——WKU establishes Wenzhou Institute for Commerce and Entrepreneurship

On September 28th, during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Wenzhou Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Chen Yixin, member of Zhejiang Provincial Standing Committee and Secretary of Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee, conferred a plaque establishing the Wenzhou Institute for Commerce and Entrepreneurship (WICE), Wenzhou-Kean University. The institute aims at “building China’s first businessmen college with Wenzhou characteristics” and to “cultivate young talents with entrepreneurial spirit and global awareness” that will instill vitality into the development of Wenzhou businessmen by offering new vision, new thinking, new strategy, and create leading figures among the group.

WICE is a secondary college under Wenzhou-Kean University. Guidance will be provided by the Wenzhou Investment Promotion Bureau, while WKU will be responsible for the daily operations and service management.

WICE plans to enroll Wenzhou businessmen nationwide and overseas and offer non-degree courses to the public.

Vice Secretary General of the Wenzhou Party Committee and Chair of University Council Mr. Frank Wang remarked, “the establishment of the WICE will help improve the personality of Wenzhou businessmen. It will also serve as a platform for cooperation in information, technology and funding. Furthermore, this institute is able to provide opportunities for Wenzhou’s affluent second or even third-generation families to continue their studies, as well as to invest and start businesses in Wenzhou.”
