Andrew Sadler

Biography:

Andrew has a BA in economics from New York University, where he studied under the Nobel Prize laureate for Economics, Professor Vassily Leontieff and the leading Austrian School economist, Professor Israel Kirzner. He also studied at NYU in Paris and at Goneville & Caius College, University of Cambridge in England. He earned an MBA degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and he then moved to Germany as a Carl Duisberg Society scholar with the Deutscher Akademisher Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange).

 

He worked briefly in advertising as an account executive. He also worked as a money market trader for the Bureau of Investments in New York where he negotiated repurchase agreements for the city’s employee pension funds, and as an analyst for Grace Corp in Paris and for American Express Bank in Frankfurt. As an investment banker in corporate finance and debt origination for Deutsche Bank in Luxembourg and Frankfurt, Andrew collaborated on the first Euromarket transaction for the People’s Republic of China through CITIC’s initial Euro-DM bond issue. As fund manager with Banque Générale in Luxembourg he managed the bank’s fixed-income funds with a total net asset value of almost $1bn and he also served as an international capital market advisor for Metzler Private Bank. He was subsequently a strategic consultant in the financial services and insurance sectors where his main areas of interest were credit unions, political risk underwriting and alternative risk transfer.

 

After moving into academia he served as head of the Faculty of Banking, Finance, Economics & Accounting with the University of Greenwich outreach partner in Viet Nam where he considers himself very lucky to have had had some amazing students. He was also a professor of macro-economics in Singapore, and he lectured at the Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology in Malta as well before joining WKU in China.
