The 6th Annual Conference on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools at Wenzhou-Kean University
On November 15th to 17th, organized by Wenzhou-Kean University, the 6th Annual Conference on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools(CFCRS) was held at Wenzhou-Kean University. Deputy Mayor of Wenzhou Municipality Ms. Zheng Chaoyangand Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, Chairman of China Education Association for International Exchange and Mr. Qu Zhengyuan, Chairman of China Association of Higher Education attended thie event.
Nearly 460 representatives participated in this event, including officials from more than10 provincial educational departments and more than 40 university presidents. The 6th Annual Conference on CFCRS is supported by International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China, and co-sponsored by Center of Research on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, Xiamen University& Provincial Education Department & Research Society of Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools (in preparation) of China Association of Higher Education.
The theme of this year’s annual conference is Quantity, Quality and Benefits of Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools in the New Normal Phase of Economic Development.According to Mr.LinJinhui, Director of Center of Research on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools at Xiamen University, the focus has been shifted from quantity to quality in developing CFCRS.
Mr.Philip Connelly, Vice President for Operations at Kean University recalled his involvement in the conception, development and growth of Wenzhou-Kean University. Traced back to its beginning to 1981, with the signing of a friendship and co-operation agreement between Zhejiang Province and the State of New Jersey and later Mr. Xi attended the signing ceremony at Kean University for the joint initiative between Wenzhou University and Kean University and this September President Xi ‘s accolade made at the 3rd Annual China – U.S. Governor’s Forum in Seattle on his first state visit to the U.S., Mr. Philip has witnessed the whole process of WKU’s development. At the same time, he remarked,”Each and every student at WKU is a pioneer. They are the first in their families and the first in China to experience a truly global education. Our students have the foresight to know that this type of education will give them a secure foothold in the new world economy. “
Mr. Qian Qiang, Vice Chancellor of WKU introduced the characteristics of the University,:” We will develop fund raising to ensure the University’s sustainable development; we bring advanced educational resources from the U.S; faculty are recruited by Kean University through global recruitment; small-size classroom with all-English environment and inquiry-based teaching methodology; and we lay emphasis on students’ entrepreneurship and innovative spirit.
