Prior to completing his Ph.D., Scott worked as a Certified Financial Planner™ for American General Financial Group where he developed a rural territory into one of the top 10 highest producing territories in the USA. Since completing his Ph.D., his research has focused on strategy under conditions of institutional uncertainty with a particular focus on small businesses in ASEAN member nations. Scott has conducted research based in the Philippines, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia and has published 25 research papers and presented at 23 research conferences. Prior to coming to Wenzhou-Kean University, Scott was twice awarded both the Distinguished Research Award and Presentation Excellence Award by Allied Business Academies. He was named MBA Professor of the Year and was awarded the Vitale Innovation and Creativity Award at a previous university in the USA. Scott has served as a dissertation chair as well as a dissertation committee member for doctoral candidates at a university in Thailand where he teaches courses related to strategic management.
