  1. Participation: to cultivate the habit and the ideology of life-long exercising.
  2. Skills: to learn more than two skill sets of sports activities.
  3. Physical Healthfulness: to form a healthy living style through effectively learning knowledge and ways of improving physical fitness and forming healthy habits.

C.Course Offerings
Students are required to take a total of 4 credits in PE, with one-credit course taken in each semester in the first two years (Fall and Spring). Each course takes 1350 minutes. Each course runs 15 weeks each semester according to University calendar.

Each instructor is responsible for evaluating students based on following criteria and giving them scores:

  • Attendance and performance (20%). Students willnot be to attend the skill test if they miss 5 weeks of class for any reasons.
  • Physique test  (30%).
  • Skill Test (50%).

Course Description

This course is based on the learning needs of students from different levels, of which the teaching content includes basic skills of basketball, basic tactics, and introduction of game rules etc. This course evaluates the results through the test of skills, extracurricular physical exercise, performance/participation, physique & health test and other aspects of the comprehensive assessment.

Course Description

Soft volleyball is a newly developed fun, entertaining and exercising sport event which is popular among the undergraduates. It has the good value of exercise. This course is aimed to improve students’ sports skills, and help students master the basic theoretical knowledge, skills, tactics and the rules of the game. This course evaluates the results through the test of skills, extracurricular physical exercise, performance, physique &health test and other aspects of the comprehensive assessment.

Course Description

Orienteering involves the use of maps and compasses to visit the marked points on the maps; those people spending the shortest time are the winners. Orienteering is usually carried out in outskirts, forest and university campus. With the effect of physical fitness, this sport can improve people’s physical qualities including speed, endurance, flexibility, strength, flexibility and so on. Orienteering also contributes to intellectual development, playing a unique role in the cultivation of moral traits. Participants are able to learn team collaboration and the spirit of respect, mutual encouragement and endeavor during the process. Course Description

Women self-defense is the technique to get rid of and counter criminals when girls are infringed or may be infringed. The most typical character of Women self-defense is practical – without fixed rules and the limitation of time and venue. The ultimate goal is to kill, hurt or escape from the enemy. Using all of the available methods without martial arts framework and constraints, girls can achieve maximum damage to the enemy. By all means to achieve this goal, trainees may integrate any part of human organs and various props into the excellent fighting skills. Graduated from Beijing Normal University, professional for the national traditional sports, majoring in martial arts -Sanda, has many years of women self-defense course teaching experience, as well as many years of training experience on Chinese and foreign martial arts.

Course Description

Traditional Chinese martial art is rich in its content and numerous genres, and Tai Chi is the one of the major genres. It belongs to the aerobic metabolism with low intensity exercise, corresponding to the health maintenance. Tai Chi contributes to good health longevity, and lifelong benefit. By practicing tai chi, one can cultivate his morality, raise a person’s optimistic spirit and peace of mind, and prompt the harmonious development of body as well as the level of mental health. In information society, the more need to “the balance between technology and stable emotional state,” is more essential.  Tai chi particularly achieve the balance by promoting peace and harmony emotional states. This course combines the special skills training, physical quality and the evaluation of comprehensive performance to calculate the grades.

Course Description

Taekwondo is a combat sport emphasizing the use of fists and legs. Through forms of contest, training, and regular check, players get to build up their heath and forge their backbone. Taekwondo is a tool that can be used to keep fit, nurture personality, entertain oneself and others and so on.

The course will teach the basic theories and techniques of Taekwondo, and also contains classes for practice and evaluations. Students are supposed to handle the taught theories and techniques, and students will be graded by the extent they understand the course content, their physical fitness, and their participation and performance in classes.
