Honors and Diplomas

Wenzhou-Kean University proudly recognizes students who have consistently demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Those who meet the following criteria are eligible to receive a gold tassel and participate in the Commencement ceremony with honors:

Maintain an overall cumulative G.P.A. of 3.45 or higher.
Complete a minimum of 45 semester hours at Wenzhou-Kean (excluding credits earned on a pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis) by the end of the fall semester of senior year.

• Honors are divided into three categories according to grade-point average, as follows:

– Summa cum laude 3.85 to 4.00
– Magna cum laude 3.65 to 3.84
– Cum laude 3.45 to 3.64

Those designated by the Office of the Registrar as eligible to participate in Commencement with honors may pick up their gold tassels during cap and gown distribution.

Note: The posting of honors designations on diplomas, transcripts, and other student records is based on the FINAL cumulative G.P.A. which includes spring semester for May candidates, and Summer Sessions I and II for August candidates.
Diplomas & Transcripts
If you have met your academic requirements and have no outstanding financial obligations, your diplomas and transcripts will be available to pick up within a month after the commencement. If you wish to have someone else pick up the diploma, please follow the instructions listed in the email you received earlier from the Office of the Registrar.

Commencement Speaker

Jianhai Lin is the Secretary of the Fund and the International Monetary and Financial Committee. He oversees the Secretary’s Department that has operational responsibility for the 24-member Executive Board, and serves as the official contact point of the IMF’s 189 member countries on institutional matters, including work of the Board of Governors. The Secretary’s Department also organizes the Spring and Annual Meetings, and is the creator and custodian of the IMF’s official record.

A Chinese native, Mr. Lin was appointed to his current position in March 2012. He previously served in senior positions in the Secretary’s, Finance, Policy Development and Review, and Asian and Pacific Departments. During his IMF career, he has worked across a wide range of country, policy, and administrative issues.

Mr. Lin studied at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China, and the University of California at Berkeley, and earned his doctorate from the George Washington University. Before joining the Fund, he worked in the financial sector and academia.

Good afternoon! WKU Commencement Ceremony will be hold on June 3,2017  1:30 pm in Wenzhou Opera House. For the smooth operation of the event, here are the detailed requirements for all the staff members who will participate the event:

1. Time
All the personnel must arrive at the opera house before 12:30, June 3, 2017

2. Dress Code: formal

3. Transportation
Please go to the venue via public transportation or taxi. All the transportation fees can be reimbursed afterwards.

4. Entrance
Staff members who were assigned tasks in the event, please enter with your Worker’s Pass. Other staff members please enter the venue by tickets. Tickets can be collected from the reception desk at the opera house.

For Graduate Commencement on Saturday, June 3,  Wenzhou Grand Theatre will open at 12:00 p.m.

Traffic Info Traffic will be extremely heavy near Wenzhou Grand Theatre. Please allow extra travel time.

Dress Code
Please enter the theatre orderly, in proper dress and with valid tickets (Men: wearing slippers and vests are not allowed)

Food and drink

Food, drinks, chewing gum, cameras, videos, etc. are not allowed in the auditorium

Please turn off your cell phones or switch to silent mode while prformance in progress

Please arrive punctually and take your numbered seat. Latecomers please take a  nearby seat. Performance in progress, please stay in your seat

No smoking inside the theater
