    Mr.Wang Beijiao, MPA from Kean University, currently serves as Party Secretary of Wenzhou-Kean University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wenzhou-Kean University. He is presently in charge of the university’s daily operation. Mr.Wang previously served as the Assistant to Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Rui’an City, Director General of Wenzhou Science and Technology Bureau and Director of Wenzhou Municipal Party Committee Office. Since he began his career in August 1984, he has gained a rich experience in agriculture planning, land management and administrative management. He also has a deep insight in university management and development.

    Since Wang assumed the present office in August 2014, he has been actively learning from Kean University to improve Wenzhou-Kean University’s organizational structure and system. He maintains a good balance of the relationship between board of directors, party committee and the president and conducts the president accountability under the leadership of board of directors. Focusing on innovation and creativity, he actively explores the rule of running Sino-American cooperative university. Under Wang’s leadership, the 2015 WKU admissions was quite successful – he has helped the university to extend its influence and build its reputation. Based on the demands of Wenzhou’s economic and social development as well as the university’s actual practice, he initiated WKU 2015-2020 Strategic Plan. Under Wang’s leadership, a significant progress has been achieved in overall campus construction, site planning and the surrounding environment. Wang values ties with government and enterprises, and established the Wenzhou Institute for Commerce and Entrepreneurship to attract more entrepreneurs to visit WKU for training and communication. The institute would serve as a platform for potential cooperation in information sharing and funding, as well as providing internship opportunities for students. To diversify WKU’s channels of income and to ensure a sustainable future, Wang has been working on establishing WKU Foundation.

    Wang always emphasizes the concept that all work should be student-centered. He also attaches great importance to talent building and improving the management level as well as the communication between China and the U.S. Wang will keep leading WKU toward a better future.

    Executive Vice Chancellor

    Dr. Cary Anderson is the Executive Vice Chancellor at Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), a Sino-US cooperative institution. In this position, he collaborates to internationalize the student and faculty population, expand the research enterprise, maintain educational excellence and ensure student success.

    Prior to joining WKU, he was the Vice President for Student Life and Associate Provost at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.  While there, he led student and faculty exchange, joint program development, study abroad and international student recruitment and support, primarily focusing on China.  He held various University roles overseeing institutional effectiveness, online education, institutional research, academic budgets, served as Interim Dean of the College of Professional and Liberal Studies, and was the Middle States Institutional Accreditation Liaison Officer. He taught history, law and policy courses in the Interdisciplinary Doctor of Education Program.

    In addition to numerous conference presentations, workshops and addresses to a variety of academic and professional organizations, Dr. Anderson was the Editor of the NASPA Journal and has served as a member of various editorial boards. He has served as on numerous accreditation visits, and has consulted in the area of accreditation. Dr. Anderson graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and earned a Master of Arts degree at Loyola University Chicago.  He completed his doctorate at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 2010, Dr. Anderson completed a program at Harvard University Graduate School of Education Institute for Educational Management.

    Dr. ZHENG Xiaodong, a registered urban planner, once studied abroad in America for his master degree, majoring in Public Administration. He served as a professional urban planner and a municipal government officer for more than 10 years, devoting himself to urban planning and construction management with his outstanding practical experiences, integrated accomplishment and international horizon over 20 years.

    According to his great contribution of city planning, he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Wenzhou-Kean University and fully in charge of the entire Campus Planning and Construction, campus intelligence and logistics services since 2014.

    Under his leadership, the international working group has made overall design, construction plan, informatization for WKU. Aiming at being a world-class university, Dr. ZHENG built WKU with innovativeness, multiformity, integrity, and enhancement of ecology & intelligence by melting Sino-American cultures of architectures, using the existing campus planning for reference, reinforcing communication and cooperation between different universities worldwide, encouraging faculty and students jointly to participate. At the same time, many new technologies and approaches have also been applied in these programs, such as GIS, Virtual Reality, ecological technology, fabricated construction, reinforced concrete, vertical planting and new material furniture and so on. Besides, based on the WKU (the center of internationalized community), Dr. ZHENG actively boosts the developing construction of Wenzhou-Kean Township. Internationalizing this community would certainly bring more preeminent over-seas experts back to home and built it a better community in the world.

    Vice chancellor Dr. Zheng Xiaodong oversees Campus Planning and Construction, Logistics and Assets Management, IT Services, and Asset Management co. Ltd. He is also responsible for contacting Chen Tianlong Art Museum.

    Introduction

    Dr. Eric Yang serves the roles of the Vice President for Academic Affairs for Wenzhou-Kean University. He is a professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Yang received his medical degree from Dalian Medical University, and had his residency in the Department of General Surgery of the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Dr. Yang received a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC) in 2003. He also received a M.S. in Computer Science from SIUC in 2005. Before joining Kean, Dr. Yang had been teaching and doing research as an assistant, associate and full Professor, and took academic administrative posts including Graduate Program Coordinator, Program Assessment Coordinator and Department Chair. Dr. Yang’s dedication to teaching excellence and student-engaging research was well recognized by prestigious university awards including President’s Award for Research and Creativity, Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award and Excellent Academic Advisor Award. His research team won 21 research presentation awards at regional and national conferences. Dr. Yang was nominated to the Academic Advising Award of National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). He was also nominated as the sole candidate to the Vice President of Kansas Academy of Science. Starting from 2017, Dr. Yang served the students and the faculty of Kean as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Acting Dean of Nathan Weiss Graduate College, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

    Dr. Yang has been conducting active research of a broad scope including roles of microRNAs in human malignant melanoma and microRNA-based therapeutics against melanoma; cocktail therapy combining heat shock protein inhibitors and autophagy inhibitors against melanoma; roles of antioxidants in melanoma growth and invasiveness and in drug resistance to chemotherapy; the mutagenesis induced by alkylating agents and the anti-mutagenic effect of phytochemicals; the interplay between the mismatch repair genes and dam; the pharmacological effects of phytochemicals on human malignant melanoma; immunotherapy using conjugation of α-fetal protein and heat shock proteins to enhance the immunogenicity; the differential response of P53 network at different oncogenic mutation context; genetic responses of bacteria to heavy metals and DNA-damaging agents; utilization of CRISPR-dCas9 system to regulate miRNA expressions; Synthetic biology-topological sorting algorithm. Dr. Yang’s research on the dual effects of vitamin C and other antioxidants on the development of malignant melanoma have recently drawn considerable attention. Dr. Yang’s research was supported by subawards of National Institute of Health of the United States and the International Collaboration Grant of Natural Science Foundation of China. His research has been published in highly impacted journals including Molecular Carcinogenesis, Cancer Letters, Mutation Research. He has been invited to give research talks at many international conferences and universities. He has been conferred Guest Professor or Honor Professor title by several Chinese universities.

    As the Chief Academic Officer of Wenzhou-Kean University,Dr. Yang oversees the overall operations of academic affairs including teaching, research, faculty hiring and evaluation. In addition to the four academic colleges, Dr. Yang’s direct reports include Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Research and Sponsored Program, the Office of the Registrar, Library, Office of Assessment and Accreditation, and English Language Center. Dr. Yang has engaged in improving the teaching capacity and quality of WKU faculty by implementing vigorous teaching assessment and providing faculty opportunities of keeping abreast of modern teaching pedagogy and technology. Dr. Yang works with the leadership team on increasing university research capability and productivity by providing faculty research support, recruiting high-profile research faculty in various disciplines, building research infrastructure, and supporting faculty-student collaborative research. Dr. Yang has been dedicated to developing students’ transferable skills including critical thinking, analytical, mathematical, resilience, leadership, teamwork, written and oral communication skills by engaging students in high impact learning experience including research, internship and study-abroad. Dr. Yang works with the faculty to transform WKUers to be responsible future leaders with strong critical thinking skills, independence, characteristic personalities, spirit of innovation and exploration, life-long learning ability and global vision by liberal art education and practical skill acquisition imparted through Kean’s vigorous curriculum.

    Mr.Yan Xiaopeng, a research fellow, received his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Hangzhou University and Master’s degree in Education Leadership from the University of Canberra. He is also a management doctor from Peking University. He now serves as a Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee. He was selected into The Wenzhou 551 Talents Project, and was awarded as an excellent education worker and an outstanding CPC member of Wenzhou. He was the project host of various research projects, including projects from Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Zhejiang Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education and Provincial Innovative Team. He published many papers in a variety of academic journals, including China Higher Education, China Higher Education Research, Education Research Monthly, etc. His paper was cited by Reprinted in Information Center for Social Science of Renmin University of China. He published three books, such as A Comparative Study of Confucius Institute and Chinese Education Development.

    He previously served as expert of Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, adjust professor of Zhejiang Academy of Chinese Culture, fellow of Wenzhou Public Diplomacy Institute, and Director of Confucius Institute at Burapha University.

    He held various positions at Wenzhou University, including Deputy Director of University Affairs, Director of Student Affairs, Deputy Dean of College of Adult Education, Director of Foreign Affairs, Dean of College of International Cooperation, the President of Wenzhou University Italy Campus and Director of Italy Research Center. He also has been a Director of WKU Board of Directors during preparation period. He has served as a member of CPC committee of WKU and the vice-chancellor since June 2020. He oversees Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Research, and Office of Financial Services.     Mr.Zhou Dong, BSc from Wenzhou Teacher’s College and MSc Management from Fuzhou University, Associate Professor, currently serves as Member of CPC Committee and Secretary for Discipline Inspection Commission of Wenzhou-Kean University.

    Mr. Zhou Dong previously served as Associate Director of University CPC Committee, Associate Director of University Affairs and Director of School district in Wenzhou University; Vice Chancellor,Secretary of CPC Committee, Member of the Board of Directors in City college of Wenzhou University; Vice Chancellor,Secretary of CPC Committee, Member of the Board of Directors in Wenzhou Business College. In Jan 2019, Mr. Zhou Dong joined Wenzhou-Kean University as Member of CPC Committee and Secretary for Discipline Inspection Commission. He is presently responsible for the discipline inspection and supervision. He oversee Office of Supervision.

    Ms. LIN Zhaozhao, B.A., China People’s Police University, M.P.A, Tongji University, is Vice Chancellor at Wenzhou-Kean University.

    Ms. LIN Zhaozhao successively served as the Director of the Wenzhou Jiangbin Sub-District Office, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Wenzhou Lucheng District, Deputy Mayor of Cangnan County, and Deputy Director of Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce. She has been serving as the Vice Chancellor at Wenzhou-Kean University since August 2022. Her administrative responsibility includes overseeing the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Research and the Office of Financial Services and providing assistance in Community and Government Relations affairs. She is also responsible for contacting the WKU Education Foundation (including the Overseas Chinese Academy and the Wenzhounese Entrepreneur Academy).
