Biography
Chris Evans is a lecturer of English in the College of Liberal Arts. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, he started his career in the video production area of the Continuing Education Department at the Georgia Institute of Technology, meeting with a small group of Chinese visiting scholars, helping them with their conversational English. Encouraged by them to become an English teacher in China, he started his master’s degree in TESL and traveled to Xining, Qinghai to begin what would become his life’s work, teaching college students English. After obtaining his master’s, he traveled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, teaching at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, first in the Orientation English Program, and then the University English Program, serving as the UEP Director for two years before moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2000. There, he began teaching at Dubai Men’s College, a part of the Higher Colleges of Technology system. He is an avid movie buff as well a voracious “reader” of audio books, which he enjoys listening to during his daily morning walks.
