Dr. Oberle grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA.  She became interested in politics at an early age.  She attended Knox College in Illinois for her BA before moving to Germany to complete her Masters and PhD.  After this, she has had teaching and research posts in various locations all over the world including Bangladesh, Israel, Spain, Hungary, Egypt and now China.  She speaks German and enjoys biking, jogging, and swimming.
