Biography

Joel Hendrick is a faculty member in the English Department. He has an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Alabama (UA). In addition to teaching 5+ years in S. Korea, he has taught high school English in Florida, and Composition and ESL at UA. In teaching, he most enjoys helping students see the possibilities in writing. Joel really loves words-they’re so good. He is married and has three young daughters, all four of whom were kind enough to accompany him to Wenzhou.

Research Interests

His primary academic interest is in Corpus Linguistics and how language usage is self-governing. In the time that work, church, and family allows, he is piddling around with a corpus research project on the language of law-enforcement and political power.
