Tristan Currie

Educational Background

Bachelor of Screen Production, Griffith University. MA in TESOL, Queensland University of Technology. Doctor of Education, University of Technology Sydney.

Biography

I have worked with Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) previously as part of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Digital Media) top-up degree program, guiding those students on the people skills needed to develop ideas better from script to screen, using not just skills but a stronger theoretical understanding of classical narrative structure, in the arena of video production.

I also worked with the Vocational Training Council BA (Hons) Graphic Communication and Illustration students, taking them through the process of Practice development whereby an improved design process and increased creative output were achieved through adding research skills to bolster the real-life impact of their design implementation, in the arena of graphic design.

I also compose music for film and television soundtracks in the arena of music production and occasionally work as a freelance video editing, helping clients achieve the desirable look for their product/service through careful presentation and contextual placement of their product and/or service. Though my interests are clustered, there is a dimension of interdisciplinarity to them, so my teaching philosophy and creative vision is to get the best results you have to support, cultivate and advance your ideas by working well with others. I have a doctoral degree in Education and 5 years TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teaching experience

Research interests

I conducted an English Pragmatics course at the tertiary level, focusing on English Pragmatics. The course involved teaching Adult Learners as part of their continuing education. The course is a Research Project into the use of video viewing and self-and-group recording to enhance spoken English.
