About Wenzhou-Kean University

Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Sino-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique model of higher education in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive, public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced developed cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai.

 

WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls about 5,000 students, and it is now in the midst of a rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 8,500 students within the next five years. All instruction is in English and all curriculum is provided by Kean University.

 

Job Description

Under the guidance of the Director of the English Language Center, the full-time onsite Supplemental Instructor offers one-on-one tutoring services and workshops to students; develops and implements English learning support programs for underprepared students, and communicates with faculty about their progress; assists students in developing test preparation skills; proofreads and polishes university publicity materials; conducts staff training; participates in outreach services; and does related work as required.

 

Qualifications

1.Native English speakers with a Master’s Degree in English or English Teaching, or other related majors from an accredited university; or a Bachelor’s Degree in related majors with TESOL/CELTA/DELTA certificate;

2.Passion for English teaching and devotion to student learning support;

3.Familiarity with American teaching style and academic writing;

4.Excellent oral and written communication skills;

5.Willingness to go the extra mile and work under pressure;

 6.English teaching experience preferred.
