Campus Selection | 2021"FLTRP·ETIC Cup" English Public Speaking Contest and Pre-Competition Training

The campus selection of the 2021 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest will be held on Sept. 25th, 2021. Details of the competition are as follows:

Procedure

  1. Official registration: Complete the registration on the official website of FLTRPhttps://uchallenge.unipus.cn/   （See the guide to registration https://uchallenge.unipus.cn/c/2021-06-18/503754.shtml
  2. Join WeChat group: scan the QR code：
  3. Script upload: Upload your speech script (about 300-360 words) to the above official website. Deadline: 23:59, Sept. 18th, 2021;

Competition participation: Take part in the competition held at 13:00, Sept. 25th, at GEH B302a.

Rules

The competition consists of three parts. The details are as follows:

Form Requirement
Prepared speech 3 min. Topic: Red Star Over China. Please see the attached video.
Impromptu speech 2 min. The contestants draw lots to decide the speech topic 15 minutes before the competition.
Q&A 1 min. The judges will ask questions according to the content of the speeches. The judges decide the number of questions.

Grand Prize: 1 winner

First Prize: 2 winners

Second Prize: 3 winners

Third Prize: 5 winners

Winners will receive a certificate from the organizer. Excellent contestants can apply to join the WKU speech team.

 

Pre-Competition Training

ELC will provide pre-competition training.

About the competition

  1. Initiated in 2002 by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), the “FLTRP · ETIC Cup” English Public Speaking Contest has gained wide attention and credit both at home and abroad. Over the years, it has been regarded as one of the most prestigious English public speaking competitions with very high standards in China, attracting many participants from across the country.
  2. To improve the quality of speech, contestants can book ELC one-on-one tutoring and apply to join the training of the speech team (limited seats available).
  3. The top 3 winners will participate in the Zhejiang Provincial Tournament on behalf of WKU.
