We are excited to announce the arrival of the much-anticipated ” FLTRP ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students for the year 2023.
We would like to provide you with the following information.
Competition Overview
The 2023 ” FLTRP ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students is initiated by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP).
It follows a three-tier structure, comprising a university-level preliminary round, a provincial semifinal, and a national final. This competition is open to full-time undergraduate students, graduate students, and foreign students, with five different categories of contests for registration (speech, writing, reading, translation, and interpreting).

Please note:
- The preliminary round of this university-level competition will also serve as the platform for recruiting talented participants into the English Competition Teams (ECT).
- For WKU students holding awards in relevant school-level or higher competitions and members of the speech/interpreting teams, preliminary rounds are not obligatory.
- Number of the qualified candidates advancing to the provincial semifinals(Interpreting: 4; Translation:5; Speech:4)

About the ECT
The English Competition Teams of Wenzhou-Kean University (ECT) is a student English competition group founded at the end of 2020. The ECT includes 58 members from the English Speech/Debating Team and the translation Teams.
Supervised by the English Language Center and supported by WKU faculty, the ECT aims to enhance students‘ English professional skills by selecting and training competitive students to participate in local and provincial competitions and English language events.
Following the principle of “small in size, but big in performance”, the ECT provides students with a platform for self-improvement. Since its inception, the team has achieved a total of 15 national-level awards, 15 regional-level awards, and 56 provincial-level awards.
