The 2022 Internal Funding for Research is now available for you to apply for.

Internal Faculty/Staff Research Support Program (IRSP)

1. ELIGIBILITY

1.1 For applicants who started working at Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) after August 2018, she/he must (1) have obtained a doctorate degree or have a tenure track faculty appointment at WKU, and (2) have the experience and ability to undertake research evidenced by prior peer-reviewed journal articles and/or externally funded research grants.

1.2 For applicants who started working at Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) before August 2018, she/he must (1) have obtained a doctorate degree or have a tenure track faculty appointment at WKU, and have the experience and ability to undertake research evidenced by prior peer-reviewed journal articles and/or externally funded research grants; (2) submitted a grant application as the principal investigator (PI) to the natural or social science funding agencies at the national, provincial or municipal level within the last two years, and the grant application was not funded but the grant proposal had sound research design and solid preliminary research work (for example, it received positive peer-review comments) and will be much likely being funded after gaining more preliminary data to strengthen the grant application.

2. APPLICATION

2.1 The research period is September 2022-August 2025.

2.2 The fund amounts for Key, Class I, and Class II natural science projects are up to 200,000 yuan, 100,000 yuan, and 50,000 yuan, respectively. The fund amounts for Key, Class I, and Class II humanities/social science projects are up to 50,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan, and 10,000 yuan, respectively.

2.3 NO student stipend.

2.4 Each faculty member and staff can apply for the IRSP once.

2.5 The PI/PD must apply using the OA system by completing the application along with the proposal.

International Collaborative Research Program (ICRP)

1. ELIGIBILITY

1.1 Applicants should be full-time faculty and staff members, and meet the following qualifications:

Applicants must (1) have obtained a doctorate degree or have a tenure track faculty appointment at WKU, (2) have the experience and ability to undertake international collaborative research evidenced by prior peer-reviewed journal articles and/or externally funded research grants, and (3) have no bad record of research integrity.

1.2 Partners of international research collaborative program should meet the following qualifications:

Partners must be (1) official faculty and staff members from Kean University or other universities, academic research institutions, multinational industries, and international organizations, and engaged in research; (2) have obtained a doctorate degree or a secondary senior title or above; (3) have no bad record of research integrity.

1.3 The international collaborative research program should meet the following conditions:

(1) The research field should be supported by WKU for construction and development;

(2) Both parties should have a specific basis for cooperation;

(3) Both parties have signed a letter of intent or contract agreement;

(4) The outcomes of the international collaborative research program should be owned by WKU or shared by all parties;

(5) The program should be in line with relevant laws and regulations of both parties and relevant regulations of scientific research ethics.

2. APPLICATION

2.1 The research period is September 2022-August 2024.

2.2 The fund amount for natural science projects is up to 300,000 yuan; the fund amount for humanities/social science projects is up to 80,000 yuan.

2.3 NO student stipend.

2.4 Applicants can apply for ICRP again after the successful completion of the last project.

2.5 The WKU PI must apply using the OA system by completing the application along with the proposal, partner’s identity, education background, letter of employment, and the collaborative agreement to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) on the OA system.

NOTE: Applicant can apply for either internal faculty/staff research support program or international collaborative research program within the same year. The supported internal research programs with the same or similar research topics are not funded twice.
