Scholarship

To encourage the academic excellence and support all-round development of students, Wenzhou-Kean University, together with the Chinese government, offers scholarship and grants program to acknowledge excellence in academic achievements, sports, art, social services, leadership of the students.

1.Qualifications

(1) Applicant must be full-time registered Wenzhou-Kean University students, not including exchange or visiting students (except for the condition announced by other special regulations);

(2) Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct;

(3) Applicant must excel in virtue.

2.Procedure

(1) Students submit the application for evaluation；

(2) Candidates will be selected by the Scholarship and Grant Evaluation Group；

(3) The selected candidates will be publicized for at least 5 working days;

(4) After publicity without objection, the selected candidates will be reported to the university or superior authority for approval.

3.Rewards

(1) Recipients will get scholarship certificates;

(2) Recipients will be awarded scholarship or grant.

4.Principles

(1) The selection follows the principles of transparency, fairness and excellence, complies with qualification and procedures to ensure quality and accept supervision.

(2) Candidates with fraud behaviors may invoke the investigation of Student Code of Conduct.

National Scholarship

The National Scholarship aims to reward students with academic excellence, proactive attitude and comprehensive development of ethic, intelligence, sports, art and etc. The scholarship is open to full-time registered sophomore or above students with Chinese nationality at Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of scholarship recipients and reward follows the policy of the government.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct and never receives any written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Applicant must have outstanding academic performance with GPA of 3.5 or above and ranking at the top 10% of the program(students with outstanding achievements can be at the top 30% of the program), without failed courses, wins second-class academic scholarship or above every academic year , of which at least once first-class academic scholarship, and has obtained 10 credits at least;

4.Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE and “PASS” performance in Physique & Health Test ;

5.Applicant should demonstrate excellence in ethics and habit, research, academic competition, innovation, community and volunteer services, social work, sports competition, art competition, comprehensive quality and etc.

6.In one academic year, student will only get one of those scholarships, including the National Scholarship, the National Endeavor Fellowship and the Zhejiang Province Government Scholarship.

National Endeavor Fellowship

The National Endeavor Fellowship aims to reward students with virtue and academic excellence. The fellowship is open to full-time registered sophomore or above students with Chinese nationality at Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of scholarship recipients and reward follows the policy of the government.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives any written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Applicant must have outstanding academic performance with GPA of 3.5 or above and ranking at the top 30% of the program, without failed courses, wins third-class academic scholarship or above at least once, and has obtained 10 credits at least;

4.Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE and “PASS” performance in Physique & Health Test ;

5.Applicant should be from economic difficulty families and lead a simple life; meets the criteria of students with financial difficulty.

6.In one academic year, student will only get one of those scholarships, including the National Scholarship, the National Endeavor Fellowship and the Zhejiang Province Government Scholarship.

Zhejiang Province Government Scholarship

The Zhejiang Province Government Scholarship, a supplementary and extension of the National Scholarship, aims to reward students with academic excellence, proactive attitude and comprehensive development of ethic, intelligence, sports, art and etc. The scholarship is open to full-time registered sophomore or above students with Chinese nationality at Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of scholarship recipients and reward follows the policy of the government.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives any written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Applicant must have outstanding academic performance with GPA of 3.5 or above and ranking at the top 10% of the program, without failed courses, wins second-class academic scholarship or above every academic year, and has obtained 10 credits at least;

4.Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE and “PASS” performance in Physique & Health Test ;

Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students at Wenzhou-Kean University

In order to encourage and support individuals of outstanding academic and moral excellence who have interest in studying in Zhejiang Province, China, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province offers the “Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students”. In accordance with government’ s selection criteria of this scholarship and based on the specialized programming of Wenzhou-Kean University, the following is for applicants.

Scholarship Standards :The number of scholarship recipients and reward follows the policy of the government.

Type A: for postgraduate	For outstanding foreign students admitted or enrolled in graduate programs (Master’s Degree, Doctoral Degree).	30,000 RMB/ year
Type B: for undergraduate	For outstanding foreign students admitted or enrolled in Bachelor Degree Programs.	20,000 RMB/ year
Type C: for advance student	For outstanding foreign students enrolled in long-term (at least one semester) non-degree programs.	6,000 RMB/ year

Eligibility:

Applicants should follow the scholarship regulations according to each different type and submit a written application. The scholarship application process is held once a year. Eligible applicants can apply multiple times, consecutively.

1.Applicants should be students already admitted to WKU or enrolled in either degree-granting programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral) or long-term (at least one semester) non-degree programs.

2.Type A scholarship

For Master degree programs: applicants must have a bachelor degree and recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors required, and be aged no more than 35 years old.

For PhD programs: applicants should have a master degree and recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors required, and be aged no more than 40 years old.

3.Type B scholarship

For undergraduate programs: applicants should be graduated from high school and be aged no more than 30 years old.

4.Applicants should be with foreign nationality and passports, friendly to China and in good physical condition.

5.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives any written warning or above.

6.Applicants should have outstanding academic performance and actively participate in activities organized by the government of Zhejiang Province and school.

7.Applicants should not be current recipients of any other scholarships in this academic year.

Taiwan Student Scholarship

To encourage and support more Taiwan students to study in the mainland and study harder, enhance the identity of Taiwan students to the motherland, the Ministry of Education of the P.R.C set up Taiwan Student Scholarships especially. Eligibility for Taiwan Student Scholarship is applicable to Taiwan students enrolled by Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of awards and the amount of scholarship recipients are allocated according to the state funding.

Qualification：

1.Recognize One China and Support China’s Unification;

2.Comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives written warning or above;

3.Honest and excels in virtue;

4.Entrance examination scores and academic performance in Wenzhou-Kean University are take into consideration.

5.Social experiences, participation in activities, achievements and comprehensive performances are take into consideration

Dean’s Scholarship

The Dean’s Scholarship aims to reward students with outstanding academic achievement, including high GPA, research and innovation. The scholarship is open to full-time registered students at Wenzhou-Kean University; the number of first-, second-, and third-class scholarship for high GPA are 2%, 5% and 10% of each program per class respectively. The number of scholarship for research and innovation is 1% of total students at the most. And the rewards of the first-, second-, and third-class scholarship are 10000RMB, 5000RMB and 2000RMB respectively, the reward of scholarship for research and innovation is 3000RMB.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excel in virtue;

3.Applicant must have outstanding academic performance without failed courses and obtained at least 10 credits in the academic year; applicant applies for first-, second-, and third-class scholarship for high GPA should have outstanding academic performance with GPA of 3.5 or above; individual applicant applies for scholarship for research or innovation should also have good academic performance with GPA of 3.0 or above; group applicants do not have to meet the GPA requirement; both individual and group applicants should have outstanding achievement in academic competition, academic publication or patent of invention；

4.Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE and “PASS” performance in Physique & Health Test ; no requirement for group students.

Leadership or Public Services Scholarship

The Leadership or Public Services Scholarship aims to reward students (individual student or group students) who demonstrate outstanding leadership with outstanding achievements in public services. The scholarship is open to full-time registered students at Wenzhou-Kean University; the number of scholarship for individual is 1% of the total students at the most, and the number of scholarship for group students is 5% of the total teams and student groups at the most. The recipient will be awarded a 3000RMB scholarship along with a certificate.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Individual applicant must have outstanding academic performance without failed courses; there is no GPA requirement for group students;

4.Individual Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE; no requirement for group students；

5.Applicant for scholarship of leadership should be student leader at least one semester in the academic year, including directors and above of student organizations and student groups, team leader and secretary of each team, etc. Individual applicant for the scholarship of Public Services should participates in public services for at least 3 times in the academic year with outstanding achievements; group applicant for the scholarship of Public Services should participates in public services for at least 4 times in the academic year with outstanding achievements.

Culture, Sports or Art Scholarship

The Culture, Sports or Art Scholarship aims to reward students who actively participate in cultural, sports and art activities with outstanding achievements. The scholarship is open to full-time registered students at Wenzhou-Kean University; the number of scholarship for individual is 1% of the total students at the most, and the number of scholarship for group students is 5% of the total teams and student groups at the most. The recipient will be awarded a 3000RMB scholarship along with a certificate.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives any written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excel in virtue;

3.Individual applicant must have outstanding academic performance without failed courses; no GPA requirement for group students;

4.Individual Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE; no requirement for group students;

5.Applicant who made outstanding achievements in various cultural, sports and art activities organized by the municipal government or above level or in other influential activities.

Study Abroad Scholarship

The Study Abroad Scholarship aims to reward outstanding students who participate in study abroad program with achievement in academic performance, research and innovation. The scholarship is open to full-time registered students at Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of scholarship recipients is allocated according to the state funding every year. The recipient will be awarded a 10000RMB first-class scholarship or 5000RMB second-class scholarship along with a certificate.

Qualification：

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Individual applicant must have outstanding academic performance with no failed courses. Applicant applying for first-class scholarship should have cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above before studying abroad and applicant applying for second-class scholarship should have cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above before studying abroad;

4.Individual Applicant must have good performance with GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE; no requirement for group students;

5.Applicant for study abroad scholarship should participate in the oversea study program recognized by the university at least one semester during their four years in WKU;

6.Priority will be given to the applicants with excellent performance of community and volunteer services, innovation, comprehensive development and the applicants with financial difficulty;

7.The study abroad scholarship will not be awarded to one student repeatedly.

Kean Presidential Exchange Scholarship Selection Criteria

The Kean Presidential Exchange Scholarship is designed to recognize and support WKU students accepted into the KUSA exchange program who demonstrate academic excellence, exceptional leadership abilities, or a need for financial aid.

Reward method:The recipient will be awarded a full or part tuition waiver for one long semester such as Fall or Spring semester (both undergraduate and graduate students will be waived according to the undergraduate student tuition fee standard), and an internship during the exchange period.

Basic Eligibility Criteria:

1.Applicants must adhere to all laws, regulations, and the Student Code of Conduct, demonstrating a clear student conduct record at the time of application.

2.Undergraduate students may apply for various types of study abroad scholarship (e.g. Wenzhou-Kean Study Abroad Scholarship but can only receive one scholarship at a time.

 

Scholarship types and criteria:

1.Kean Presidential Exchange Scholarship for Academic Excellence

(1)Applicants must show outstanding academic performance, evidenced by a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher, with no incidents of failing a course.

(2)Applicants must be excellent in academic research, discipline competition, and innovation and invention.

2.Kean Presidential Exchange Scholarship for Student Leadership

(1)Applicants must exhibit strong academic performance with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, with no incidents of failing a course.

(2)Applicants must have leadership experience for at least one semester, demonstrating significant achievements. This includes roles such as director-level positions or higher in student organizations and/or associations, team leaders, and/or those of similar positions.

 

3.Kean Presidential Exchange Scholarship for Financial Aid

(1)Applicants must meet the identification criteria for Wenzhou-Kean University student financial aid recipient.  

(2)Applicants must exhibit desirable academic performance with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, with no incidents of failing a course.

 

Inm Inspiration and Innovation Scholarship

According to cooperation agreement between Wenzhou INM Public Welfare Charity Foundation and WKU Foundation, Inm Inspiration and Innovation Scholarship was established to encourage overall development and innovation of students.

Standard:

1. This scholarship is open to full-time registered Wenzhou-Kean University students whose status is active.

2. The total amount of rewards is 100,000 yuan per year.

3. “Inm Inspiration and Innovation Scholarship”is reviewed once every academic year. The reward amount is 3,000 yuan for individuals and 5,000 yuan for groups. This scholarship rewards 20 individuals and 8 groups. If the number of scholarship recipients in the year is less than the plan, the rewards will automatically be attributed to the next year, and the corresponding quota will be adjusted appropriately.

4. The establishment period of the Inm Inspiration and Innovation Scholarship is 10 years, from 2019 to 2028.

Eligibility:

1. Comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct and never receive any written warning or above;

2. Be honest and excels in virtue;

3. Have good academic performance with academic year’s GPA of 3.0 or above and without failed courses. No requirement for group students;

4. Have good performance with academic year’s GPA of 3.0 or above in Chinese Curricula, PE & AE and “PASS” performance in Physique & Health Test ; no requirement for group students;

5. In one of the following cases, students could apply for this scholarship:

(1) Receive school-level and above awards in the subject competitions.

(2) Have excellent performance in publishing papers.

(3) Entrepreneurial practice projects have achievements or receive school-level and above awards, and leader is our full-time registered students.

(4) Get outstanding achievements in cultural, sports and art activities organized by the municipal government or above level.

(5) University’s star groups.

6. In one academic year, student will only get one of those scholarships, including the scholarship for research and innovation, Leadership or Public Services Scholarship or Culture, Sports or Art Scholarship for the school.

7. The same project can only successfully apply for the scholarship once.

Our undergraduate grants include national grants and university-level grants.

National Stipend

The National Stipend aims to sponsor students with financial difficulty. The stipend is open to full-time registered students with Chinese nationality at Wenzhou-Kean University. The number of scholarship recipients and reward follows the policy of the government.

Qualification:

1.Applicant must comply with laws and regulations, and Student Code of Conduct, and never receives any written warning or above;

2.Applicant must be honest and excels in virtue;

3.Applicant should study hard and have positive attitude;

4.Applicant should be from economic difficulty families and lead a simple life; meets the criteria of students with financial difficulty.

WKU Grant

Wenzhou-Kean University Grant program aims to sponsor students with financial difficulty because of domestic calamity or major disease during their study at WKU. The grant is not open for public application, and the number of recipient and the amount of the grant will be discussed case by case and should not exceed the tuition fee.

Qualification:

During the study at WKU, the applicant faces financial difficulty because of domestic calamity or major disease; the grant can only be used for study or treatment of the disease.
